Long live the independent bookseller & publisher!

Paris, dear friends, is full of books. And quite naturally, I want them all. The literary magazines. The collections of poetry. The copies of books I've already read. And holy cow the children's books! French things, I find, are deceptively simple or elaborately complex. I'm tempted on a daily basis to drink my hand soap because it smells so good. It's a simple, cheap crème à la lavande- combined with milk and almonds and honey and everything that is good about this country. Y. even found a shampoo made with honey and chamomile tea leaves. I have never felt so homesick, yet increasingly, I have never felt so charmed. I am so terribly behind on things I'd like to remember, I'll never catch up at this rate!

P.S. If anyone knows how to buy concert tickets in Paris, I would be ever so grateful!

  3. As long as the show isn't too underground, you can buy your concert tickets at FNAC. You should be able to google the location easily, (I don't remember off the top idly head). The place is gigantic (like a virgin megastore) but once inside look for billets/spectac signs.
    Good luck!

  9. Apart from FNAC, I got some off ticketnet just the other day and they arrived safely in the UK really quickly. Another way is just check out the venue's website and see if there's a link. By the way, have you been to Abbey bookshop? It's a wonderful, wonderful place.

As bunnyteeth so wisely said - go to Fnac. It's a really easy way to get your tickets.
I hope your homesickness subsides...I also found it incredibly hard living in Paris - best of luck!

  19. i adore shakespeare & co, as well as all the other shops i just happened upon. children's books are fantastic when you're just learning the language, and the vintage ones are so beautiful!

i'm glad you're discovering the beauty around you, maybe as a way to combat homesickness.

  23. After spending five minutes in my mum's friend's bathroom staring at a lime-green soap, I bit the bullet and took a bite, having convinced my eight-yr-old self that nothing which smelled so good could taste bad.
    I was wrong.
